Associating Items with Add-On Codes
The second step in creating add-ons is associating items with the add-on codes. When you associate an item with an add-on code, you need to define whether the item will be sold at the same quantity as the parent item or at a fixed quantity. For example, although you sell a set of four tires, you perform only one alignment check.
You also need to decide whether to sell an add-on item at its regular price or a percentage of the parent item’s price. You can edit the price and quantity for an add-on item at any time. You can also change an add-on item’s price, quantity, or both at point of sale.
To associate items with an add-on code
1. From the Inventory menu, select Add-On Codes. The Add-On Code List appears.
2. Toward the top of the screen, select the code with which you’ll associate items.
3. Toward the bottom of the screen, click Add Item to Code. The Add-On Item Edit screen appears.
4. Click Lookup, and look up the item that you want to add to the add-on code. For more information, see Looking Up Inventory Items.
5. To sell the add-on item at a percentage of the parent item’s price, type the percentage in decimal form (such as 5.5) in the Percent field. Otherwise, leave the percentage set to 0.00.
6. To sell the add-on item at a fixed quantity, type the quantity in the Fixed Qty field. Otherwise, leave the quantity set to 0.
7. To exclude the add-on item from tax-exempt invoices, select the Add only if parent item is taxable check box. Otherwise, leave the check box alone.
8. To automatically include the add-on item in the prices calculated for quotes, select the Appear selected when added to quotes check box. Otherwise, leave the check box alone.
10. To associate additional items with the add-on code, repeat steps 3 through 9.
11. Close the Add-On Code List.
