Adding Customer Types

Although TireMaster comes with several customer types, you can create additional types to further classify your patrons. Before you set up your customer types, talk to your accountant about which general ledger accounts any new types should post to.

To add a customer type

1.       From the Customers menu, select Types. The Customer/Vendor Type List appears.

2.       Click Add. The Customer/Vendor Type Edit screen appears.

3.       Define a unique code for the customer type in the Type field.

Note:       For ease of use, use only letters or numbers.

4.       In the AP or AR field, type AR.

5.       Type a description for the customer type.

6.       Assign general ledger accounts to the customer type. To assign an account, click the account field, press keyAcctTilde00003.jpg, and select an account from the list that appears.

Example: Using the default TireMaster chart of accounts, the AR Account would be 1100-100.

7.       In the Accounts area, click each account field, press keyAcctTilde00004.jpg, and select the following preset accounts:

  • AR Acct 1110-0

  • AP Acct 2000-0

  • AR Dis Acct 4600-0

  • AP Dis Acct 5600-0

  • Exp Acct 9999-9999

8.       Select any options that you want to enable for the customer type. For more information, see Customer Type Edit ScreenAbout the Customer/Vendor Type Edit Screen.

9.       To assign a department to the type, click the Department field, press keyAcctTilde00006.jpg, and select an account from the list that appears (optional).

10.   To save the customer type, click OK.
