Adding a Customer
Customers can be added as a single task or at point of sale.
Note: If you need to create a record for a national-account or government-support customer, see Adding a National-Account Customer or Adding a Government-Support Customer.
To add a customer record
1. Select Maintenance from the Customers menu, or start a work order or a quote. The Name Lookup/Entry screen appears. For more information, see Creating a Regular Work Order, or Creating Single Item Quotes.
2. Click Cancel to close the Name Lookup/Entry screen.
3. Click Add on the Customer Maintenance screen. TireMaster prompts you for the new customer’s name.
Note: When adding a new customer, the Name Lookup/Entry screen only displays the Enter Name field. When looking up existing customers, it also displays the License #, Customer #, Phone # and Unit # fields.
4. Type the new customer’s last name or the customer’s business name and click OK. If a customer with the same last name already exists, TireMaster displays a confirmation message.
5. Click Yes.
Note: If you want to see if the customer already exists in the database, click No. The Customer List appears.
If the customer already exists, select the name, and then click OK. TireMaster opens the customer record for editing.
6. After the new customer’s last name, type a comma, a space, and the customer’s first name.
Example: CARLSON, STUART
Note: For businesses, disregard the comma before the abbreviation Inc. Otherwise, Inc. will be treated as a last name (Inc., My Company).
7. Type the new customer’s street or mailing address.
8. Type the customer’s zip code. If the zip code has already been used in TireMaster, the Zip Codes screen appears.
9. Click OK. The city and state are added to the customer’s contact information.
10. Add the phone numbers and e-mail address you want to have on record for the customer. For more information, see Adding Phone Numbers and E-mail Addresses.
11. To accept the remaining default settings for the customer, click OK.
Note: Most walk-in customers will have the same tax level, customer type, price level, and payment settings. To save time, the customer default settings in System Controls should match the profile of your typical customer.
For more information about customer account settings, see General Tab.
